| 500 mini-buses for Chennai Jan 6, 11 |

The Government of Tamil Nadu is planning to introduce 500 mini-buses within a period of two months for the convenience of passengers in Chennai and its suburbs.
Sources report that as a first step, the government would introduce 100 buses. Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) officials say that some of the spare parts of the mini-buses will adhere to Bharat Stage IV carbon emission standards.
They have already conducted a preliminary study and have identified areas such as Tambaram, Red Hills, Kelambakkam and Tiruvottiyur for operating the mini-buses
