Rameswaram nagara Viduthi was founded in 1880, by Mr.AL.AR.Ramasamy Chettiar, who belongs to Zamindaar family of Devakottai in order to serve Nagarathars community.
Some attention has not been given to maintain this viduthi in due course and so, Nagarathars met Justice Thiru. AR.Lakshmanan and requested him to do needful in renovating nagara viduthi.
A charitable trust has been formed as well as named as " RAMESWARAM NAGARA VIDUTHI CHARITABLE TRUST" and registered with Devakottai Sub Registrar Office on 11/03/2011.
A body has been formed to reconstruct and renovate nagara viduthi.

The purpose of this charitable trust : accomation facility to nagarathars coming to Rameswaram, providing educatinal aids & medical facilities, conducting prayers, annadhanam and other community services.
Nagarathars can generously contribute their donations either by cash or providing building materials, electrical equipments such as fans, airconditioners and others. It is decided , those who donate 3 lakhs and above, their name will be engraved in the front of every room.
