NEWS REPORT: INAUGURATION OF (NaNRI) NAGARATHAR NRI PARENTS ASSOCIATION CHENNAI Jun 16, 11 |

More than 100 people participated in the inaugural function held at Singar Farm house at Kanathur,E.C.R.Road on12-06-2011. The function started at 11.00AM with the prayer song sung by Mr.SM.Lakshmanan.
Kuthuvilakku was lit by Achis.
Mr.M.K.Ramasamy Chettiar,Puduvayal presided over the Function.
Mr.SP.Singaram welcomed the gathering and explained the idea behind forming the association and informed that Gujarath NRI Parents Association was the motivating factor to start this. Shawls and Mementos were presented to the Dignatories.
Mr.CT.Meyyappan explained the details of activities so far done by the association. The major activities were: the Mega Medical Camp organized at Karaikkudi with the sponsorship of NSNA,USA,, Felicitation of the Youngest Grand Master in Chess Mr.Sethuraman Panayappan, helping the students who intend to study CA by sponsoring the exam fees for CPT& IPCC and the Physiotherapy centre at T.Nagar. He informed that the main motto of the Association is to provide emotional support to the needy NRI Parents.
Mr.V.Nachiappan GM,ICICI Bank in his address to the forum, emphasized the need for promoting entrepreneurships among the NRIs. He suggested that NRIs should come back to India after about 10 years and settle in India. Nagarathars can start companies here like that of Muthoot Finance, since finance company business is well known to us. We can even think of creating Management Chair in Alagappa University to study the new activities that can be created to produce more entrepreneurs among our community. Corpus fund can be created by small groups of Nagarathars to do business. In order to break the monotony of the housewives who are left alone in the house they can be taught to use the computers so that they can spend the time usefully.
Mr.M.K.Ramasamy Chettiar in his presidential address mentioned that hard work and continuous attempt alone will yield the desired result to come up in life. He has generously donated Rs.20000/= to Nagarathar NRI Parents Association as already announced in the earlier meeting.
Mr.V.Veerappan in his address mentioned that NRIs after some period have to come back to India. Like minded people can join together to do business in India. However one has to take risk while investing in such capital ventures. We have to inform our children which is good and which is bad. He suggested that we are always spending time for others but we should make it a point to spend time for ourselves. We have to give Emotional Support to the parents but at the same time they have to explicitly reveal their difficulties so that their problems can be solved. One should be always happy for which he has to necessarily laugh. He wants this Association should grow more and is willing to associate himself for achieving the best results.
Mr.Lena.Tamilvanan wished this association to grow a strong one so that lot of useful activities can be delivered.
Mr.Ilangovan Nagarathar Malar informed that NRI Parents can assemble frequently to make themselves happy. Parents here can export certain things to the NRIs wo can form small groups there and do business abroad.
Mr.Palaniappan Natarajan who worked in US for 15 years and has just returned to India for managing a company and to start of his own, explained his experience of living in both the countries.
Mr.Senthil Annamalai son of Mr.M.Arunachalam, HongKong informed about the inability of his father to attend this function due sudden meeting in the World Economic Forum. He said that they are arranging to a new steel company worth about Rs.2000/=Crores near Trichy which will provide lot of employment opportunities to many people.
Mr.Lena.Natarajan wished the Association to grow more & stronger to do a lot of useful activities to the society. He mentioned that Parsi community which is about a lakh of people is having a great control over the business activities in India. Similarly we can also perform well. NRIs can form small groups and do business activities in India by taking calculated risk.
Mr.VR.Sundaram proposed vote of thanks and also shared his experience as a past president of many overseas Nagarathar associations.
